The best online storage solution

As paper filing systems become more and more obsolete, many businesses are turning to online storage options to house their documents and files. But going paperless isn't just about saving money in paper supplies or saving time through more efficient filing practices. Transitioning to an online storage system provides businesses with a faster, more reliable and more secure method of storing and sharing files.

Citrix ShareFile develops cloud-based storage software for businesses of every size — from startups to enterprise-level organizations.

What should you know about online storage?

Online storage (or the cloud) has likely become an important part of your personal and professional life. You may use it to post to your social media accounts, to watch your favorite TV shows and movies and to perform important work tasks both in and out of the office.

In an article entitled "The Cloud Hits the Mainstream," Forbes contributor, Reuven Cohen, states:

"If you’ve attended a technology conference over the last couple years it’s hard to avoid the obvious buzz around cloud computing. Almost every vendor has applied the term to anything and everything imaginable. During this time there has been some debate over the level of adoption outside of the startup scene, specifically within the larger 'enterprise class' of companies. We’re now at a point where most 'new software' created, is created with the Internet as a central tenant.  It’s how modern software is developed, deployed and consumed. Yes. The cloud has gone mainstream."

So it is safe to say the cloud is more than a trend: it is an integral part of the way that modern businesses operate.

Since the developmental phase of ShareFile, our engineers have rigorously tried to understand the biggest challenges faced by modern businesses so that they could create intuitive, business-centric software to face those challenges head-on.

One of these challenges was only being able to work while in the office and not being able to access important documents from anywhere — whether on a business trip, on a long commute or sick in bed. By creating an online storage system, our clients have constant, 24/7 access to all of their documents and can access them on any device that has an internet connection.

Online storage from ShareFile

In the following video, we delve further into some of ShareFile's most impressive features and explain how they help meet some of our enterprise customers' biggest challenges.

ShareFile Enterprise is a secure and robust solution that empowers users to share data with anyone and sync data across multiple devices and storage locations. These features provide management and control functionality, enabling IT administrators to deliver a secure service that meets corporate data policies and compliance requirements.

ShareFile storage zones allow organizations to store data on premise, putting control of corporate data access in the hands of IT administrators. Storage zones can be easily integrated with existing company infrastructure. Secure cloud options utilizing enterprise-class data centers are also available. Migration for data from public to on premises may be performed from within the ShareFile web application.

Storage Zone Connectors provide users with instant mobile access to data on existing network file shares and share point document libraries. Connectors are created within the ShareFile web application. Users may access and edit data stored on premises via the suite of ShareFile apps available on your preferred mobile device.

Account administrators can configure user device security presets and utilize security features such as remote wipe to control access to company data at will.

ShareFile Personal Cloud Connector allows user to access and copy data stored on personal cloud services. A ShareFile user creates a personal cloud connecter within the ShareFile web application. Once created, the connector can then be accessed via the user's preferred mobile device. ShareFile Personal Cloud Connecter also allows users to copy data stored in their personal file-sharing services directly to their ShareFile accounts.

ShareFile Single Sign-On allows users to login to the ShareFile web application and apps with active directory credentials. ShareFile accounts may also be customized with a split login page, enabling organizations to offer company credential login for employees while retaining the normal email login for clients. The HTML template for the split login page, which ShareFile provides, may be customized by advanced users to match your company brand.

The ShareFile User Management Tool (UMT) allows provisioning of employee accounts and distribution groups through active directory. Using UMT, administrators can easily keep their ShareFile account in sync with the company directory. This tool allows scheduled synchronization of directories and is most often used in tandem with other enterprise features, such as ShareFile Storage Zones.

ShareFile On-Demand Sync is a file synchronization designed for shared desktop environments, allowing organizations to cut network load and manage bandwidth requirements and storage costs. This tool can be configured through Group Policy and supports SAML forms-based authentication. Use this app to sync files and folders to your local computer or virtual desktop.

ShareFile's enterprise features empower organizations with an IT-managed service that delivers on user mobility, data sharing and collaboration requirements while maintaining management and control IT administrator's expectations and needs.
