When Greg Rank began working with Sonoma County Grange Credit Union as its technology consultant, the credit union needed a way to simplify the processes and workflow of its secure email server. As Rank set about finding a way to keep the credit union’s communications and files secure, he remembered an easy-to-use service that his accountant used to manage his confidential financial files.

That service was ShareFile, and making the decision to use the service, he says, was quite simple.

“We chose ShareFile for two reasons. First, it’s easy to use; and second, it’s affordable,” says Rank. “Plus, more and more of our partners and vendors have started using it. It just makes sense.”

ShareFile’s security and encryption features allow the credit union to meet the stringent security requirements of the financial industry and rest assured that its members’ financial documents are secure. In addition, the easy-to-use interface means that both employees and members can feel comfortable using the product. But perhaps the most startling revelation for the credit union, and for Rank, was the cost savings.

“I estimate that we save $8,000 a year in paper and toner alone, because we aren’t printing documents anymore,” says Rank. “That and other systems we found cost up to $10,000 a year in some cases. We’re a small credit union serving mostly agricultural clients, so the savings ShareFile gives us really count.”

An added bonus of using ShareFile has been its mobile features. The ShareFile Mobile App, particularly the version for iPad, has allowed the credit union’s board members to download sensitive financial documents and reports on the go, so they can securely access critical information for the credit union without having to worry about being out of the office or away from a computer. And, because of ShareFile’s remote wipe capabilities, Rank knows that his files remain secure even in the event of a lost or stolen device.

“There are tons of document-sharing apps out there, but most don’t meet our security needs. ShareFile eliminates those concerns."
