You may have noticed that a solid portion of the internet seemed to go missing yesterday, including ShareFile.
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is a cloud service provider that allows major software companies around the world to maintain scalable and highly available products for their customers. Think Quora, Slack, IoT thermostats and light bulbs, and yes…ShareFile. A portion of AWS known as S3 went on the fritz yesterday for a few hours and left you staring at a spinning browser, unable to access your files or client portals.
AWS typically maintains a very high availability rate, which is the benefit of using such a provider. It is highly unusual for AWS to fail for long periods of time, meaning Citrix can provide you with reliable file sharing service.
While we can’t control Amazon’s shipping times or their server outages, we always aim to maintain communication with you throughout any service changes or disruption. We maintain a ShareFile status page that refreshes regularly and we are always available in real-time on Twitter and Facebook.
We want to be sure to emphasize that while we understand (and empathize with) the frustrations of yesterday, your files and data were in no way compromised.
The Amazon (AWS) issue only impacts speed and in no way creates security vulnerabilities. All of your data is safe and sound????????
