What does one of ShareFile’s first customers have to say about the product?

That’s what I wanted to know. So, I set out to find and speak with one of ShareFile’s longest standing clients. I came across Generate Design, a Raleigh-based web design firm with a core focus on branding and graphic design, web and digital design, and app development. Generate Design has been in business for 15 years, and it’s been a ShareFile customer for the last eight of those.

I sat down with Paul Barth, president of Generate Design and administrator of its ShareFile account, to learn a little more about what the past eight years have been like as a ShareFile customer. Here’s some of my conversation with Paul:

What made you decide to try ShareFile?

PB: Originally, we signed up for a free 30-day trial and immediately saw how much money we began saving on our courier and FedEx expenses. Obviously, we decided to continue using it.

How does Generate Design use ShareFile?

PB: Mostly, we use it for large file transfer— to upload, download and request large files from clients. We keep our files stored on ShareFile so clients can always have access to them. We also have ShareFile integrated directly into our website, where it is customized to fit our personal branding and seamlessly fit in with our design. It has really helped us become more advanced in interactions with our clients.

How did ShareFile improve what you previously were doing?

PB: In the first year alone, we saw a $3,000 cost savings in our overnight courier fees. As a fairly small company, that was huge! Now, we don’t use courier services at all—we just use ShareFile.

What’s it been like to use ShareFile for eight years?

PB: ShareFile has definitely made us a lot more efficient. We aren’t a huge company, but it’s helped us appear like a huge company. It’s also helped us grow our client base without having to expand our staff, because we spend less time on project management and managing courier services. ShareFile has made all of things more centralized for us.

Is there anything that you wish you could do with your ShareFile account that you currently cannot?

PB: You guys have already answered that with the mobile apps. We really need a native mobile app for ShareFile, because a lot of the time, we’re working on the go and need to access documents quickly from a mobile device. So, keep moving in the mobile direction!
