Two-step your way to tighter security

Written by on February 3, 2014 in Product - 2 Comments

ShareFile now offers two-step verification! What does that mean for you? I assure you it has nothing to do with a dance floor.

ShareFile wants to make your data as secure as possible, so we’re giving you another way to further protect your login information. Two-step verification is an optional feature that uses your phone to provide an extra layer of security when you log in.

You can choose to enable two-step authentication in your user settings. Once it’s set up, you will be asked for your password and a verification code when you log into your account. That verification code will be send to your phone as an SMS/text message or voice call. Enter the code that was sent to your phone and log in and share files as you normally would.

You’ll be asked to enter the verification code every time you log into ShareFile from a new device. You can also pre-print backup codes in case your phone isn’t handy. You may also create a specific password to further secure tools such as the desktop widget.

Does all this sound like a great way to give yourself extra peace of mind? Check out our Knowledge Base for instructions on how to enable these ‘multi-factor authentication’ features on your account or how to enable Google Authenticator for ShareFile.

And go ahead, we give you permission to start “two-stepping” around the office.
