One of the biggest requests we get from our accounting customers during tax season is to find a way to make it easier for you to integrate your Document Management System with your ShareFile account. Finally, ShareFile has a way to integrate these systems using our new ShareFile Sync tool making it quick and easy for you to upload your client’s tax returns to their ShareFile folders directly from your DMS.

ShareFile Sync allows you to sync up folders on your desktop with folder in your ShareFile account. Any files that you save into these folders will upload directly into your account without you having to first save them to your desktop. With ShareFile Sync, you can simply “Save As” or “Print To” directly from your DMS into the folders on your desktop and these files will become available to your clients the next time it syncs up, which is every 5 minutes.

Creating all of your client users and their portals can be tedious, especially when your time is already stretched. Using ShareFile’s Bulk Folder Upload option, you can have all of your client users and their portals setup in one upload without all the time consuming steps involved in creating the client user and giving them access to a folder.

ShareFile’s Bulk Folder Upload option will create each client user in your account, assign them a password, create their folder and set their permissions for that folder. You will also be able to customize the notifications that are sent automatically to your users.

In January we announced the release of our latest power tool, ShareFile Sync. ShareFile sync is an automatic synchronization tool allowing you to manage your files and folders directly from your desktop. It also offers a two-way synchronization option for users to sync files within specific folders for upload and download. ShareFile Sync also allows for a one-way synchronization so files can be designated as “upload only” and transferred from the desktop directly into a ShareFile account.

Our existing line of robust tools features the ShareFile Desktop Widget. The Desktop Widget is one of my favorite power tools and one I use daily. The tool requires Adobe Air 2.0 and offers ShareFile users an efficient way to upload, download, and delete files from an account without needing to launch a web browser. The tool offers drag-and-drop functionality making file movement simple. While the tool does users to email large files within the device, user management, account administrator, and folder permissions need maintained and edited through the traditional web-based application. The ShareFile Desktop Widget is available of Windows and Macintosh computers.

Here at ShareFile, we are in the process of a major facelift. We recently updated the interface of our web application (Click here to see the changes) and we have also made changes to ShareFile.com. The update of our website enables visitors to read more up-to-date information regarding our services, including a lot of the file sharing enhancements that have been introduced in the past few months. We also released a new version of the Desktop Widget that allows for easier uploads and downloads in addition to a new look, and the ShareFile service is also now compatible with iPhone, iPad, and Android use.

We feel that we are in good company. Google released an updated interface of their search engine and Gmail this spring, and Microsoft released Office 2010 only a few months ago. With Google, the improvements seem to be largely motivated by the need to keep up with competition; as search engines become smarter, user expectations have begun to evolve. Microsoft is focused on becoming a better fit for their users, as it allows for greater social communication tracking, increased consistency through the Office tools, and better compatibility.

At ShareFile, our updates have been driven primarily by customer requests- for a cleaner interface, for more intuitive file transfer methods, etc. – but we also try to stay ahead of the curve by anticipating future requests and laying the groundwork that will help us accommodate our client’s changing needs.
