Tax season is right around the corner, but it’s not too late to make this your most productive season. ShareFile has the tools that tackle the logistics of communicating with clients and managing your workload so you can focus on the real work at hand. Here are a few tips to help you reduce the time you spend on the little things and streamline your work for the next few months:

1)      Get your portal in order

When you set up client folders, you can let clients easily log in to the same location each time they need to share files with you or receive their return from you. However, if you need to update your folders from last year, or if you haven’t created client folders, ShareFile can help you get started in no time. Check out these features that can make setting up your client portal fast and easy.

Start your portal clean up by adding your clients in bulk from a spreadsheet. This feature lets you create as many new clients as you like by uploading a whole spreadsheet of clients at once. Learn more in our knowledge base.

You can also create folder templates. This lets you instantly add subfolders by year, file type and more on every client folder. Learn more in our knowledge base.

Finally, you’ll want to synchronize with your existing client folders. If you already have the client folders and files you need on your computer, let ShareFile keep your information up to date online for you. Learn how ShareFile Sync can help.

2)      Enable clients to forward documents to third parties

Eliminate the need for requests and authorization to share client files with third parties, and let clients take charge of sharing their files when needed.  When you grant your clients permission to send links to their files from their own ShareFile folders, it’s easier for both you and your clients. Learn more in our knowledge base.

3)      Make signing and returning documents painless

Reduce the turnaround time for getting client signatures to just minutes instead of days or even weeks. With ShareFile and RightSignature together, you can keep the entire process of sharing, reviewing and signing files online, without any need to print, scan or mail documents. Don’t forget – we’re always here to help! Contact your ShareFile account manager to discuss your workflow and for support during this busy season.

We like sharefile but I have a problem with the way you all are pushing the e-signatures when the IRS does not recognized e-signatures on 8879s as valid. Solve that problem and your integration has value. Until then, people are putting their practices at risk by doing so.

Hi Adam- Thank you for your comment. You are correct; the IRS has not issued a formal ruling for the use of e-signatures on form 8879. Many of our accounting clients use e-signature technology with other important documents like engagement letters, third-party authorization forms, payroll processing forms, W-9s, etc. and we encourage our customers to use this technology for these documents types. Please feel free to contact your account manager to discuss all of documents and forms you can use e-signature technology with under the federal E-SIGN Act.
