It’s November—or Movember: time to sport and support those moustaches—and as we approach the hustle and bustle of the holidays, it’s always nice to reflect back on the things for which we’re thankful. I have many things on my list, but here are a few of my work favorites that I wanted to share.
-I’m thankful to work for a company that values giving back to the community. This is something I’m very passionate about, and I love that Citrix is as well. All Citrix employees receive two days off per year to serve in their local communities: a personal volunteer day, when you can volunteer for any cause you’d like, and a Global Day of Impact, which I used this year to volunteer with coworkers for Rebuilding Together.
-As the holidays near, I’m thankful for the ability to workshift while traveling. I’ll be visiting family in the coming weeks, and at Citrix, I can easily work from wherever I may be. This is incredibly effective for me to stay productive and also have a change of scenery while checking off my to-do list. I also enjoy the ability to have workspace flexibility on a regular business day in the office. My favorite spot to work away from my desk is in the game room on our super comfy lovesacs.
-I’m thankful for our in-office treadmill, because I’ll need some way to work off the Thanksgiving meals I plan to eat! I use the treadmill to get in a great run before or after work or to answer emails while walking a steady pace in the middle of the day.
-I’m thankful for GoToMeeting. Not just because I work for Citrix and it’s a great product, but because I get to meet with my colleagues from around the world. In just a matter of minutes, I can hop on a meeting and see my colleague Rhonda in San Francisco (see pic below), Justin in Santa Clara, Shreya in Copenhagen or even Lori on a train during her morning commute into the city. I’ve quickly realized how much more interactive a meeting can be by simply turning on your camera. I’ve even met my colleague’s pets while on meetings!
