This week, Caroline Long and I represented ShareFile at the 4th Cloud Security Alliance (CSA) Congress, the industry’s premier gathering for IT professionals and executives interested in furthering their understanding of cloud security trends and emerging issues. By attending, we hoped to engage privacy, compliance and security professionals directly to discuss security and compliance questions and concerns in a casual setting. The congress was also an ideal opportunity for us to show off ShareFile’s capabilities of enabling secure file transfer while meeting the security and compliance needs compliance-burdened industries, such as healthcare and financial services.
During this year’s congress, CSA built upon the momentum it generated during the 2012 event with keynote addresses by leading cloud computing executives Theresa Carlson, vice president of worldwide public sector at Amazon Web Services, and V. Jay LaRosa, senior director of converged security architecture at Automatic Data Processing (ADP). For their keynotes, Theresa discussed how customers can leverage the cloud to build better, cheaper and more secure systems, and V. Jay explained how ADP relies on cloud infrastructure to deliver its services and how most people rely on cloud services without even knowing it.
Overall, the CSA offered a dynamic and engaging agenda that included discussions around topics, such as: strategy, design and implementation; governance, risk and compliance; management and operations; mobile computing; emerging technology and trends; and government and academia.
If you’ve never attended, the CSA Congress has a little bit of everything for everyone. A few of the sessions I found particularly interesting were:
- Challenges and Risks of Corporate Data on Personal Devices,
- Log Management in the Cloud, and
- Purchasing Cloud Services: The Anatomy of a Cloud Transaction.
Events like the CSA Conference give me and the ShareFile team an opportunity to stay up-to-speed on the newest and greatest trends in cloud computing technology and security to make sure that ShareFile remains the industry leader in secure file sharing.
Hope to run into you next year!
