Grant Kitching, Senior Manager of Vertical Sales, believes that daily collaboration among teams is the main driver of a high-performing, innovative sales team. One of the ways ShareFile supports this idea is through “scrums.” These daily meetings were originally a part of the agile development movement to ensure better product releases through tighter communication between developers, product managers and other key stakeholders. Every morning at ShareFile, Lead Generators, Sales Executives and Directors on vertical sales teams meet in “scrums” to discuss daily numbers and projections, competitors, or articles. This gives an open forum for team members to share best practices and hold one another accountable.

Anna Hwang, Senior Sales Manager, believes that our success lies in one of our core sales values “we are a family first and foremost.” We have an awesome culture at ShareFile, and everyone is encouraged to be a part of it. Most employees are friends in and outside the office, and she believes that gives us such a unified team spirit and energy. The sales team has a dedicated social committee that puts together corporate outings such as sports events, happy hours and intramural teams. With this sort of relationship, the team wants to see each other be successful. Everyone is extremely competitive with one another but in an environment and culture that emphasizes sharing information and best practices to ensure everyone is at the top of their game.

While maintaining a high level of team collaboration is a key initiative here at ShareFile, Kendall Bradshaw, Inside Sales Manager, believes our focus on personal as well as career development is what makes the sales team so special. “We believe that the best way to grow a person professionally is to supplement career growth with personal development,” says Kendall. There are weekly classes and trainings for employees to improve organization, work-life balance or even daily health. Alongside this personal development, ShareFile provides unparalleled opportunities for career development. Every manager is extremely accessible, and during weekly pipeline meetings employees are encouraged to talk about their long-term vision and goals. Kendall herself was able to become a manager after starting as the youngest member of the sales team at ShareFile! With the explosive growth ShareFile is seeing, positions are opening up all across the board, and it is a key focus for managers to prepare internal employees to take them.

The main takeaway I had while interviewing these managers is that sales employees are extremely valued. The organization wants every salesperson to succeed and grow with the company. While interviewing Kendall, management had just ordered pizza for lunch for the entire team. If that doesn’t keep someone engaged, I don’t know what else does!

In that time, he’s seen the ShareFile grow from a small team with 1,500 clients to the data sharing branch of Citrix, serving over 28,000 companies worldwide. Read below to learn how Peter and the development team have adapted to these changes and kept their focus on making ShareFile great.

Sarah: Can you tell me a little about your job role and how it’s changed since you originally joined the ShareFile team?

Peter: I started at ShareFile as Director of Technology, managing development and technical operations. It was a pretty small operation – for the first few months, there was only one other engineer. We slowly added more developers, but since the Citrix acquisition our department has grown quickly. We now have thirty engineers devoted to ShareFile. I spend a lot less time working on development myself now, and I spend a lot more interacting with other teams like product management and customer support to determine how we can improve the ShareFile service.

Sarah: How has ShareFile development changed since the Citrix acquisition? Are there any new challenges for the development department now that ShareFile is part of a larger company?

Peter: We have access to so many more resources now, which makes it possible for us to take on more new projects than ever. In addition to growing our team, we work with many more really smart, talented people within other Citrix groups who have helped us out with new ideas and support. With a larger team, we are learning to specialize. A small team meant that everyone worked on a variety of product features and in many roles. Now that we have more people, each person can become an expert on a few things. It’s a better way to dedicate resources, but it can be a tough adjustment.

Sarah: What are you focusing on in development right now?

Peter: We want to make the ShareFile product even easier to work with right from the first time you use it. In line with Citrix’s mobile strategy, we recently refreshed the user interface of our mobile apps recently, and we learned a lot from that experience about simplifying the interface while still including all of functionality our users need. I’m looking forward to the opportunity to apply some of those lessons to the ShareFile web application.

Thanks, Peter! Check out the development team’s handiwork at the ShareFile web site.

As a 3-year Movember veteran, I have learned a few things that might help out rookies.

You will irritate friends and family. My mouth merkin managed to ruin both my wife’s birthday AND Thanksgiving at my in-law’s. I won’t even mention my father-in-law’s face when I showed up at the country club to play a round of golf with him and his friends.

The early days of your ‘stache are not pretty. The fun days are at the end of November. By then, your moustache is grown in and you look like Magnum PI circa 1987. For the first two weeks, be prepared to look like my high school gym teacher circa 1983. Not pretty.

Not pretty.

Forget smooching. My wife was not only put off by the look of my lip warmer, but she’d freakout every time I tried to kiss her. While it was fun to see her scream, “Aaah! That thing is sketching me out and feels weird!” and then run around the room, it kinda got old.

Strangers won’t talk to you. I noticed people who had spoken to me in October making sure to keep their heads down and in their phones while waiting in line next to me at Starbucks. Being inept at social interactions, this benefit was almost as satisfying as raising money for men’s health.

You will touch your mouth brow and touch it often. You will find your hands CONSTANTLY on your face stroking your dirt squirrel as soon as it moves past the fuzz phase. You won’t even realize you are doing it either. Be prepared to be talking to someone and then think, “oh man, have I been rubbing my mouser for the last hour? This thing is taking over my life.”

Your lip rug will most likely be boring. Before I grew my first face furniture, I imagined myself looking Rollie Fingers by Thanksgiving. Suave. Sophisticated. Dapper. Kind of like a 1930’s gadabout. I was incorrect. My muzzy was less Rollie and more like my 7th grade science teacher by the end. (Having teachers with bad, bad facial hair was a byproduct of growing up in the 70’s and 80’s. I think most of them drove Camaros with giant eagles painted on the hood, too. Most probably still do.)

You can make money by NOT growing a cookie duster. My mother-in-law asked, “why are you growing that thing?” Once I explained that I was doing it for charity and people were sponsoring me to grow a lip rug, she said, “I’ll pay you $50 to NOT grow one.” My wife heard that and said she’d do the same, so I have decided to Forgo the Mo’ this year and raise money by having a clean upper lip this November. I’ll be making donations to members of the ShareFile team throughout the month. But hey, who knows? If by the end of the month the ShareFile team isn’t near our goal, I might threaten my wife and mother-in-law that I’m going to grow a lip toupee to get them to up their funding.

Yan Autphenne, new to the marketing team, says he appreciates the relaxed, but professional atmosphere in the office.

“It’s very refreshing to me to be in an environment that is open to people’s different ways of doing things, but still in a very collaborative manner. I was told that I’m responsible for this program, but if things come up, ‘let us know and we’ve got your back.’ There is a lot of that kind of support, which is important.”

Ryan O’Shea, also new to the marketing department, talks about how he feels empowered to do his job.

“This is a great time to be here because we’re in a stage of growth and there’s a lot of support for the kind of work that people like Yan and myself were brought in to do. I feel like I’ve come in and been handed this program with a lot of support. It’s a very empowering kind of position and that’s a great thing to feel from your management structure.”

It was great to get the opportunity to speak with new team members and get more insight to their overall opinion on Citrix ShareFile’s work environment! We will continue to make Citrix a great place to work.

He’s a ShareFile account manager, improv comedian, bar trivia host and our Quarterly Theme Ambassador. What does the ShareFile Quarterly Theme Ambassador do? Read below to hear from Alex himself.

Sarah: How do you define your role as Quarterly Theme Ambassador, and how did you get involved with it?

Alex: I coordinate ShareFile communications and events to promote our company quarterly theme, which is chosen by our executive team each quarter. The quarterly theme gives us all a common direction and inspiration for the quarter. To support the themes, I plan surprises, events and general messaging to get everyone excited about our current focus.

When it was announced that a new role within the company was opening up for this purpose, I immediately knew that it was something I wanted to try. It’s great to have a productive outlet for sharing creativity and humor with the rest of the team.

Sarah: How do you come up with good programs that support the quarterly theme?

Alex: I think that there are two parts to planning a good event or activity: making it fun while keeping it relevant. It’s easy to just take everyone out for a bar night or buy lunch and call it team building. But if we have an event that actually ties into the theme, that can get everyone talking about it. We also plan things like contests where ShareFile employees who embrace the theme in their work win recognition, so we try to come up with a number of different ways to keep employees involved each quarter.

I always try to keep things entertaining so that everyone wants to participate. It’s not too difficult to make time for event planning or recruit coworkers as volunteers because I’m genuinely excited about organizing fun events for everyone, and I think that enthusiasm is the best thing that you can bring to a job like this. It’s much easier to get good participation and feedback when the events are things you really want to attend yourself.

Sarah: Is there anything new that we should know about?

Alex: Without giving away any surprises, I am working on planning more events that prepare us for our upcoming move to a new Citrix building downtown. I want to provide opportunities for some of my coworkers who don’t live in downtown Raleigh to explore the area. Since Citrix is becoming a big part of the tech scene in this area, I also think it’s great to build connections with other groups. We hosted a wine and chocolate tasting event with SAS for the first time last quarter, and I hope that we can have more parties like that where our employees get to mingle with people from other companies in the industry.

Thanks for helping to make ShareFile a great place to work, Alex!

Nicole: I was so excited to join ShareFile in August of 2011. I was hired as the training coordinator, but shortly after my start date, we were acquired by Citrix and my role rapidly changed. I moved from coordinating employee training into my current role as project manager. The number of employees has more than doubled since I’ve been here!

Carmen: What is one of the most challenging aspects of your job?

Nicole: The most challenging, but also the most exciting/fun, part of my job is that I have the opportunity to work with every department on a wide array of projects. I do everything from conducting Organizational Skills training to deciding which color our lobby will be painted.

Carmen: How important is it for a business to have project managers and why?

Nicole: Project managers in facilities and operations are a necessity. My customers are ShareFile employees and I want to be sure that each one of them is taken care of. Ensuring that network systems are optimally functional, the break room is filled with healthy snacks and drinks, the office environment is fun and inviting with processes in place that increase efficiency and effectiveness allows ShareFile employees to focus on providing stellar service to our customers. I love nothing more than providing support to our employees, so that they can concentrate on the core of our business: our customers.

Thanks Nicole for serving ShareFile employees so we can serve our customers well!

While we celebrate our growth, it’s still easy to forget that ShareFile grew from a one-person company to a team of 185 in only a few years. I recently spoke with Nate Spilker, Director of Client Services and one of the first ShareFile employees, about the original ShareFile office and what it’s like to be part of a growing technology company.

Sarah: Can you tell me about your role at ShareFile and how it has changed with the company’s growth?

Nate: I joined ShareFile in fall of 2007 as Vice President of Operations. At the time, we were a company of four employees, so I was responsible for a variety of things, from office management to database design and maintenance. Every employee fielded customer phone calls, and over time we built dedicated teams for account management and customer support. Today, I oversee these teams.

Sarah: Did you have expectations for where the company would be in 2012?

Nate: In my first conversations with Jesse (Lipson, ShareFile founder), he expected to grow the company to seven to nine employees over three to five years. I thought that was pretty conservative, and I expected we could reach twenty employees in that time, which I guess was pretty conservative, too. At almost five years out, we now have 185 employees.

Sarah: How has that growth affected the company’s culture?

Nate: Maintaining consistent company culture has been critical to our success. Our team has a more diverse skill set now, but we still have a culture that’s fun and also very professional. We have always been a customer-centric company, and the needs of our customers continue to shape our development priorities.

Even our start-up background has helped us transition to part of a larger company. As a boot-strapped company, we focused on efficiency. With the resources that we have now, we can bring our service to more companies while maintaining the same lean, results-driven process.

Sarah: What are some of the challenges that you have encountered as a result of ShareFile’s rapid growth?

Nate: It becomes much more difficult to know everyone on the team as we continue to grow. In the early days, we would all walk to a restaurant together and get lunch during staff meetings. Today, all-hands meetings are shared over GoToMeeting, because the company does not fit into one room. I encourage everyone to make an effort to get to know as many coworkers as possible – at least get to know their names. It’s a small thing, but I think it makes a big difference.

Thanks, Nate! The ShareFile team is thrilled to be able to bring new talent to our team and the ShareFile service to more companies worldwide as we grow. Check out news coverage of Citrix plans for growth in Raleigh.

With previous experience in branding and print design, Justin has been able to bring a holistic, consistent approach to ShareFile materials for marketing, development and sales. In the one question, mini-interview below, Justin shares his ultimate advice for new designers.

Sarah: What advice would you give a small business looking to take their web design to the next level?

Justin: Strategy and planning are essential to successful design. Keep this idea in mind, and you can set clear, achievable goals for a design project and take some of the subjectivity out of the process. If you can, sit down with everyone involved with a project to discuss the objectives before getting started. This makes it much easier to talk about your decisions later in the process.

Remember that design is about more than just making an attractive deliverable; the design needs to communicate an idea to the end viewer. Well-designed collateral should be informative and should leave you with a positive feeling about a company’s product or services.

Especially in the case of websites, visitors are drawn to a quick read. Don’t feel like you need to fill every space on the page, which can be overwhelming. Strong headers, ample use of white space and breaking up text can make the content easier to absorb. The ultimate goal is to achieve this effect gracefully.

Lastly, it’s always important to stay current in design. You have to make an effort to check out what other designers are doing and to learn from current trends. If the information or overall sensibility of the design feels out of date, it can cause a disconnect between visitors and your messaging.

Fortunately, there are a lot of great design resources available online that you can follow to get new ideas. Some of my favorite references are HOW Magazine, Communication Arts, David Airey’s design blog and Smashing Magazine. I also take a look at what other designers are working on and sharing on sites like Behance and Dribble for inspiration.

Thanks for the advice, Justin!

Previously I wrote a post on A Day in the Life of a ShareFile Sales Executive and another Behind the Scenes of a ShareFile Web Developer. Today I would like to share a ‘behind the scenes’ snapshot of the Marketing team here at ShareFile. Our team has recently grown over the past few months; we currently have six team members (and growing)! Meet the team:

Dan is the veteran on the team. He has been at ShareFile for over three years. He is responsible for many of the marketing channels at ShareFile including display, radio, CRM, social media and lead generation. Prior to joining ShareFile, he spent time at a few other Raleigh area start-ups. Dan says, “I’m very lucky to have a strong team working with me to make these channels successful.”

Al has been with ShareFile since June 2011. With over 15 years of marketing experience he is responsible for paid search, SEO, web analytics, site testing, and content. Before joining ShareFile, Al has worked in ecommerce and lead generation marketing for small start ups up to Fortune 100 companies. Prior to his marketing career, he was an air traffic controller in the U.S. Air Force where he obtained his degree in Aeronautics from Embry-Riddle.

Carolyn is still in her rookie year at ShareFile, just joining the team in January. She is managing all of marketing’s email efforts, and helping with the transition into bigger, better, smarter, and faster email capabilities. She is new to the team and to the area. Until recently, she was working in marketing in the education field in Baltimore, MD. Carolyn says, “I’m excited to work for a company with such a strong product. I’m still new so I learn new features about ShareFile on a daily basis. I’m continually impressed. That makes my job a whole lot easier.”

Kevin just joined the team in January and is working on the management and optimization of ShareFile’s Paid Search and SEO efforts. He is native to the Raleigh area and worked at local start-ups in the eCommerce and Publishing fields before joining ShareFile.

Janna joined the team about two months ago as a recent Communications graduate of East Carolina University. She helps us plan and execute tradeshow booths, as well as coordinates travel arrangements for external events. She assists the team in materials handling and planning of all marketing related events.

Jennifer (that’s me). I started at ShareFile in August 2010 and loved the company culture from day one. After starting out in sales operations, I received the opportunity to transition to the marketing side of things, which I thoroughly enjoy. I currently manage social media for ShareFile, so if you’ve tweeted @ us or commented on our Facebook page, I probably responded to you (nice to meet you, unofficially). I would love for you to connect with us (if you haven’t already) via social.

You can find us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter @sharefile, add us to your circles on Google+, subscribe to our YouTube channel, and follow us on Linkedin.

Projects and events include non-profit fundraisers, environmental clean-up, volunteering with local and national charities, and helping with any other local opportunities as they arise.

This past Saturday the ShareFile team had the opportunity to support a great cause, the Special Olympics of North Carolina. We raised money for the cause by participating in a 5K. Proceeds from this event went directly to the Special Olympics of NC in an effort to support the 38,000 individuals with intellectual disabilities that participate in the year-round sports programming. Together, the ShareFile participants raised over $600 for the Special Olympics of NC.

Today I had the opportunity to interview Ian Hawkins, Web Developer here at ShareFile. One of his responsibilities is to bridge the gap between UI Design and Development.

Ian, tell me about your role at ShareFile.

My role at ShareFile began about one year ago with an internship. I was slicing images and generating basic landing pages. Since then, it has grown to include work with website redesign, work with internal apps, marketing banners, mobile platform design, and sales materials just to name a few. Even though we are now over 100+ employees strong and growing fast, when I started there were only around 40 employees and I was forced to wear several different hats. It was a great way to start my professional career and learn a lot of different skills in a short amount of time.

For those who have no idea what web development is, can you sum it up in just a few words?

Despite spending a large percentage of my time with graphic design and marketing tools, my primary role is web development. In a nutshell, it consists of coding websites based off of graphical layouts and wireframes. I frequently work with html, css, jquery and even a little c#.

What are some examples of your day-to-day tasks?

My day to day tasks always involve one common activity: coffee. Post- caffeine, my tasks include a variety of cool things. One day I might be designing a marketing asset in Illustrator or Photoshop, and another day I might have my head down, coding a website with my headphones on to drown out the noise of our sometimes animated coworkers.

What is the best part of your job?

I really like the fact that my job may change from day to day and I get the opportunity to work with almost every department; whether it is marketing, sales, account management, development, or internal apps. This variety really keeps things interesting and makes work fun.

What makes ShareFile the best place to work?

I would say ShareFile’s most redeeming quality is our culture. We still have that startup charm and you wouldn’t be hard pressed to find someone playing video games, ping-pong, or riding by on a scooter. The fun youthful atmosphere, combined with achieving amazing growth and success in our industry make for the perfect combination in a workplace. I am very lucky to have landed here at ShareFile.

One of her responsibilities is to help ShareFile build relationships online.

Jennifer, tell me about your role at ShareFile.

I started at ShareFile in August 2010 as an intern, while I was still in school. I loved the company culture from day one. After starting out in sales operations, I received the opportunity to transition to the marketing side of things, which I thoroughly enjoy. I currently manage social media for ShareFile, so if you’ve tweeted @ us or commented on our Facebook page, I probably responded to you. Oh by the way, I’m the only female on a team full of males (feel sorry for me now).

Why is social media so important to ShareFile?

Social media helps us engage with our customers, provide customer support, educate our prospects, and enhance awareness about our brand. Some of our customers really like to communicate via social sites like Twitter and Facebook and we are able to share the latest ShareFile news, product releases and other valuable content to our followers. We are extremely customer centric so social media allows us to build relationships (and be social, which we love) with our followers by engaging in conversation.

What are some of the social media sites ShareFile uses?

Twitter
Facebook
LinkedIn
YouTube

Do you have different strategies for each of the social media sites?

Yes, we use Twitter to produce real-time valuable content to our followers that is quick to read and easy to engage with. We use Facebook to engage in lengthier conversations, post pictures from events, entertain our fans and let them in on the latest ShareFile happenings. Our LinkedIn profile is linked (ha, no pun intended) to the ShareFile blog and is also used to post job opportunities. Followers are able to share feedback and recommend and share some of our tools with others.

How do you measure a successful post?

We have this super cool tool called Argyle Social, which we use to measure the results. Using Argyle, we are able to pinpoint which posts strategies are most successful for us. We also measure the success of a post by the number of engagements by our followers. We strive to produce meaningful content that our audience wants to engage with.

We have a lot of business customers. Do you have any advice for them to start a social media campaign or improve upon their current social media efforts?

Social media is a huge deal. If your business isn’t currently present on any social site, you are missing out on a huge opportunity. There are more than 800 million active users on Facebook and over 200 million users on Twitter. What to do? Simple, get social. Just because you may not have a business profile on social sites doesn’t mean your brand isn’t being talked about already. When making a purchasing decision, people look to their social networks for advice so you want to be there to respond. You first want to figure out what you want social media to do for your business (enhance brand awareness, build a community, protect brand reputation, etc). When starting a social media campaign (if you’re starting from scratch), my advice is to research your audience and then identify which social platform best suits your business.

You should also take into consideration starting with the social network that you are most familiar with (there are social do’s and don’ts so you want to make sure you are adhering these). Using social media is not just about being on a social platform like Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn, but actually being social. Use it as a communication device- talk and listen to your audience. The amount of hours dedicated to the social site(s) you chose really depends on your business, but if you’re just starting out, try dedicating even a few minutes per day to being social. Overtime, it may be a good idea to set aside more time per day/week or even schedule your posts through social media dashboards like Tweetdeck, Hootsuite, or Argyle Social (my favorite). Once your business has established a presence on a social networking, try expanding onto various other platforms.

Today President Obama will be visiting the Triangle and making a speech at North Carolina State University to garner support for his new jobs bill, which was just recently unveiled. Some 5,000 people are expected to be present at Reynolds Coliseum to hear the President’s speech. The $447 billion jobs bill was sent to Congress on Monday. Part of Obama’s plan is devoted to encouraging businesses to hire. Many businesses are still recovering from the negative economic state and are not ready to hire new employees.

However, in response to explosive growth, we are excited to be expanding our team here at ShareFile. In the past year, we have more than doubled in size and recently ranked on Inc. magazine’s list of fastest-growing private companies for the second consecutive year.

Our Account Services team was created in January, 2011 by Nick Woerner, who has been working with ShareFile since the spring of 2008. Nick saw an opportunity to raise the bar for service and developed Account Services to improve the availability and quality of training and ongoing, proactive support for ShareFile users.

Account Services representatives conduct daily training webinars and also one-on-one sessions for customers. The team has the opportunity to work with new our accounts and learn the reasons our customers chose ShareFile as a solution for their business. I recently asked two Account Services representatives, Alex Hofford and Amanda Rogers, about the features and benefits of a ShareFile account that are most helpful to people who are just getting started or looking to learn more. Below are some of the tips they shared.

What are the most common questions that you hear from new accounts?

Alex:
FAQ- One of the most common questions I get from clients is “What is my client going to be able to see when they log in?”

Answer- While the specific answer to this question will be different with each account, the fundamental answer lies within our Folder Access permissions. With these options, the account administrator can control not only which folders each client user can see in the system, but also any download/upload capability and email notifications. These options create a level of customization so that you and your clients can get the most appropriate use out of our system.

Amanda:
FAQ- “How is the transfer secure if we send out an email with a link to download a file? What if the email gets intercepted?”

Answer- I often get asked this question, especially when going over the ‘Require user to login’ option within ‘Send a File’. I point out that if the user isn’t already created as a user on the account, the system will assign them a password. I get a lot of concern over the password coming out in the same email as the link to the file. There are measures that the administrator(s) can put into place within their account to add additional security. Our first recommendation is to create the person as user in the system and then grant them access to a folder in the account that has the material you would be sending to them. If the user is created in this way, then they will be required to log-in each time before they can access the folder. They will be sent a temporary system-generated password in an initial email and will be prompted to change that password as soon as they log-in the first time. Email notifications can be turned on, so that notification will be provided as soon as new files have been uploaded to the folder.

I’ve also helped accounts with their email templates so that a new user’s password won’t go out in an email. Some accounts even change the passwords for all users to the last four digits of their SSN (for those in Accounting and Financial industries) and then only say in the welcome email that their password is the last four digits of their SSN. I also refer those who ask these questions to the Reporting feature in their account and let them know that they can trace downloads to an IP address and location to determine who is doing the downloading/uploading of a file.

What are the most popular features with your accounts?

Alex: Across all of our accounts, we provide access to the Desktop Widget tool in order to provide easy access to the ShareFile account without having to utilize an internet browser. The Widget allows the user to see the folders and files they have access to in the ShareFile account, while providing a way to upload documents, send files, and create new folders/subfolders.

Many people tell me they like the Widget because of the ability to Drag-and-Drop files in and out of the Widget window. This is a very easy way to move a large number of folders and/or files at once from outside the client portal.

Amanda: The Outlook Plug-in—everyone loves how easy it is to use!

The Reporting page and tracking features are also very popular. All of the users on an account may not be in close proximity with each other. Our notifications, combined with the Activity Log available in each folder, help the Administrator know if their colleagues and clients are getting their work done. Many administrators like being able to check to see how many files have been downloaded and to know right away when that happens. They also like knowing that if there is ever a question about meeting a deadline, they can use the Reporting features to get a time stamp of their work.

What are the best ways to get help when you’re getting started with a new account?

Alex: The Help link in the top right corner of the ShareFile portal menu provides a variety of options to get our clients the help they need as quickly as possible. This page contains a search field for our Knowledge Base (a collection of articles detailing various aspects of our service), a link to chat live with our Support Team, and contact information for both the support team and your account manager. Using these tools, customers can get the answer they need in a variety of different ways.

Amanda: We broadcast a daily webinar, held during the week at 2PM EDT. Each account has a dedicated account manager, who serves as a point of contact for any questions that come up as you start using the service. Customers can also contact their account manager to schedule a free training session for themselves and their colleagues if the webinars are time conflicting or if they would like the ability to ask more questions during training.

Many thanks to Alex and Amanda for the expert advice on getting started with your ShareFile account! If you have any questions or would like any help getting started with your account, please feel free to contact us at support@sharefile.com.

If you don’t have an account yet and would be interested in learning more about our service, check out our 30-day free trial at ShareFile.

Located in Raleigh, ShareFile has what we would call a healthy dose of college basketball passion. With UNC, NC State, and Duke all within 30 miles, we are lucky enough to have world class rivalries carry over within our office and our community. The UNC-Duke game and State’s last regular season game against Florida State are both coming up this weekend, and the ACC tournament is less than a week away, so there is plenty of excitement and bragging to go around.

There’s been a lot of written about the effects of March Madness on productivity in the work place, but I’m inclined to agree with Adam Horowitz of bnet.com, who’s “Attention Bosses: Your Employees Need to Watch March Madness” article last March listed 10 reasons for employees to at least go along with their employee’s enthusiasm and bracket pools this time of year. I particularly liked reason #10, that happy employees are productive employees. Last year, we had great results in March, and hope to continue that trend this year during tournament season. We are working to release our native apps for Android and Mac OS at the end of the month to increase our mobile compatibility, and we are also continuing to help more clients get started with the recently released Desktop Sync and Enterprise Sync tools every day. With all of the growth that we’ve had over the last few years (link to 2 million users article), the ShareFile team has grown considerably, and there’s nothing like love of college basketball to remind us of what we have in common.

To help everyone enjoy the NCAA tournament season as much as we do, we are inviting all of our customers and friends to join ShareFile’s Inaugural March Madness Contest. Sign up is available at contest.sharefile.com/bracket, and contestants can fill in a bracket with their picks to win games throughout the tournament this year. We will be giving out prizes to winners following the Elite Eight and Final Four games, and the overall winner will get a new iPad! If you have any questions about the contest, you can email them to us at contest@sharefile.com, and have fun!

Visit our Facebook page to view pictures of the ShareFile staff in their college t-shirts!

After conducting an interview with one of ShareFile’s Sales Executives, Adrienne Lester, I wanted to share some insight into the day-to-day activities of a typical Sales Executive here at ShareFile. Adrienne has worked at ShareFile since August 2010 and enjoys the relaxed environment in the office. On a typical day, Adrienne arrives at ShareFile at 8:30am and meets with Team Laura for a morning huddle, where the team discusses tactics and successes from the previous day. After the meeting, Adrienne checks her email and prepares to start prospecting within the AEC industry, with a goal of booking online demonstrations.

While on hold, Adrienne enjoys jamming out to the music playing in the sales area here at ShareFile. She tells me that “Hip-Hop Fridays” are her favorite! In between prospecting, Adrienne performs a couple of morning demos with interested AEC prospects. Before the demo, she researches the company, which gives her the ability to focus the presentation on their needs, while formulating a solution for the company’s file transfer concerns.

“When I entered sales, I was under the impression that a client rarely got back in touch with the salesperson after the sale: client likes product, client buys product, client and salesperson go their separate ways. Once I started at ShareFile, I started noticing myself and other colleagues receiving positive messages from clients about the ShareFile service. Things like, ‘I really love ShareFile and it is doing wonders for my workflow’. After hearing feedback like this regularly, you can’t help but truly want to get the ShareFile name out there and help others in the same fashion.”

Adrienne enjoys maintaining relationships with her clients to make sure ShareFile continues to meet and exceed their expectations by always keeping an open stream of communication. The afternoon generally consists of more prospecting along with a few more afternoon demonstrations, followed by a quick game of ping pong with a few colleagues. Adrienne can be seen wearing her Snuggie around the office. Generally, the Sales team works later hours to accommodate schedules for customers and prospects in various time zones, always with the number one goal of raising the bar for customer service in the technology sector.
